Monthly MAC Meeting 8/28/2019 at 0800 to be held on base at the Sonoran Pueblo
The Yuma County Chamber of Commerce assisted the USS Frank E Evans Association at the Yuma Armed Forces Park to display the names of the "Lost 74" sailors who lost their lives on June 3 of 1969. An Australian Aircraft Carrier cut the ship in half, and since the ship was not in a "Combat Zone" these 74 names are NOT on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in DC, nor did their families get proper death benefits. Steve Kraus, (L) President of Association stands with Willis Zinser, a Yuman who sponsored this project. "Lest We Forget", all of these names are also on memorials in Long Beach, CA, and Niobrara, NE. An Independence, MO memorial contains the names of native Missouri sons lost on the USS Evans.
