Healthcare in Yuma
Cardiac wing of Yuma Regional Center
Yuma County is fortunate to have the finest medical professionals and the latest health care technology. Yuma Regional Medical Center is the hub of health care in the desert southwest. Many physicians, dentists, chiropractors and other health professionals offer extensive services in Yuma. From simple dental exams, family vaccinations and checkups to the most sophisticated medical technology available, highly skilled health care professionals are always available.
The 406-bed, not-for-profit health care organization partners with a strong medical provider community to deliver the full spectrum of acute care, medical and clinical services. Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) includes over 2,000 employees, 300 medical providers and hundreds of volunteers.
Driven by the mission “to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and the communities we serve,” Yuma Regional Medical Center continues to invest in new facilities, technologies and services. YRMC is almost finished with renovations that have taken years to complete. The facilities not only needed updating, but expansion was necessary to meet the need of the growing community.
The expanded facilities at YRMC include:
- Women & Children Services Center
- Level 3 Neonatal ICU
- Heart Center
- Cardiopulmonary Care Unit
- Outpatient Surgery Department
- Wound Care Center
- Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery Program
- Cancer Resource Center
- Larger Emergency Medical Services Department

With the relocation of administrative offices, the final portion of the east wing of the hospital was demolished. That cleared the site of the original hospital, built in 1958, to make way for the new, expanded, state-of-the-art Emergency Department.
Construction on the new emergency department has been completed. The new 58,500-square-foot Emergency Department occupies the ground floor of the new building, which is designed as a future tower with four more floors to provide for more space as the hospital (and community) continues to grow. There’s a new front entrance, Emergency Department Lobby, bigger ambulance bays, and two helipads capable of supporting two Blackhawk helicopters.
